Biltong & Budz Has Closed: Where Can South African Growers Find Seeds Now?
If you've recently searched for Biltong & Budz, you may have discovered something unexpected.
After operating from 2016 to 2026, Biltong & Budz has announced its closure with the message:
“Thank You For Growing With Us. Until next time... Biltong & Budz (2016–2026).”
For the many South African growers, collectors and cannabis enthusiasts who knew the name, that naturally raises the next question:
Where can you find cannabis seeds in South Africa now?
Looking for a Biltong & Budz alternative?
If you arrived here because you were looking for the old Biltong & Budz website, you're probably not necessarily looking for another company with exactly the same catalogue.
You may simply be looking for a reliable South African seed supplier where you can browse genetics, compare varieties and place an order locally.
That's where Nebula Seeds™ comes in.
Nebula Seeds is an independent South African online seed company offering a growing selection of cannabis genetics, including feminized, regular, autoflower and CBD varieties, along with rare, heritage and breeder-focused genetics.

Rare & Heritage Genetics
Whether you're looking for a familiar classic or something a little harder to find, these collections give you a good place to start.
What happened to Biltong & Budz?
Biltong & Budz became a familiar name in the South African cannabis seed market after launching in 2016.
Over the years, the company developed a substantial catalogue covering genetics from numerous breeders and seed brands.
In 2026, the business announced its closure, marking the end of its 2016–2026 chapter.
That means people who previously bookmarked Biltong & Budz, purchased from the store or relied on its catalogue are now looking for alternatives.
If you're one of those customers, you're certainly not the only person searching for what comes next.
What should you look for in a Biltong & Budz alternative?
There's no need to choose a new seed supplier simply because it has the biggest catalogue.
Instead, look for a company that offers:
🇿🇦 A South African business
Buying locally means dealing with a South African company, South African pricing and local delivery.
🌱 A variety of genetics
Different collectors have different interests.
Some want classic strains. Others are interested in rare genetics, heritage lines, CBD varieties, autoflowers, regular seeds or particular breeder lines.
📦 Local delivery
A local seed supplier means you don't have to navigate international ordering when looking for genetics within South Africa.
🔎 Clear product information
A good product page should tell you what you're looking at rather than simply giving you a strain name and a photograph.
🤝 Local support
When you have a question about an order or a product, dealing with a South African business makes communication considerably easier.

Sometimes choosing individual strains isn't the most interesting way to shop.
Nebula Seeds also offers seed collections and packs, making it easier to explore several genetics together.

What if I can't find the exact strain I used to buy?
Don't assume that a strain has disappeared simply because you can't find it at one particular retailer.
Seed catalogues change. Breeders release new crosses. Old genetics return. Different companies may also work with related lines or genetics carrying the same familiar names.
If you remember the:
-
Strain name
-
Breeder
-
Genetic lineage
-
Seed type
-
Or even just the name printed on the old packaging
you have a much better starting point than simply searching for a seed bank.
